firsts

Once upon a time, an ambitious girl named Molly found some leftover squares from the quilt her mom made for Stephen and Leone.

She asked. And she received.
Molly laid out the squares to plan how they would look best. Then, on her mom's old (and mom's first) Singer, she sewed and sewed. Although this was her first time on a machine, she was a pro.
After some finishing touches from her mom, the quilt was wrapped up and sent off to Utah for her cousin Pearl's first birthday. Maybe Molly's mom could run her own little sweatshop from home.
Now that would be a first.

Wow, Molly! That quilt is amazing! Pearl is a lucky little girl. Good for you for learning some sewing skills from your mom. You'll be the envy of all the pre-teen girls you know, and you'll use your skills the rest of your life. Nana

No, I think you win "Mom of the year". That is so amazing! It takes lot of talent and patience to quilt and you taught her both. Great job. Tell Molly that my daughter, Isabella, is way impressed. And tell her that I am very impressed as well. She's inspiring me to get reacquainted with my 12 year old sewing machine that I only managed to use three times(sad,I know).

Wow! I see that quilting talent runs in the family.

Watch out Pearl, Talley might steal your new blanket. ;-)

I am simply stunned. That quilt looks perfect. Sarah, you must be so proud! I'm determined to learn some sewing skills this year. I am sorely lacking in patience in that dept. What a fun, special thing for you and your daughter to share together. Way to go, supermom!

While surfing I came across your blog and instantly fell in love with your quilts! They are so beautiful! I told my husband I am going to give one a try...I typically don't have the patience for sewing, but this quilt makes it all seem worth it!!!
