all I want for Christmas

...is for my other teeth to fall out and for the tooth fairy to be generous. related question...Does the tooth fairy deliver the goods under pillows at your house? My kids recently heard me tell about leaving lost teeth in a glass of water and finding quarters in the water when I woke up. That's how the tooth fairy rolled at our house. Seems that's the only way they want to do it now too. So much easier for the tooth fairy, I would imagine. How does it work at your house?

She looks so cute.
At our house my kids have their room somewhat clean so when the tooth fairy comes she leaves her fairy dust all over the room. And her fairy dust changes it could be stars, or lip kisses or even halloween fairy dust just depends on what time of year you lose your teeth.

I'm thinking the glass of water is EASY

We're in the under the pillow group. It is a challenge....

I'm happy to represent with two pictures in the postcard rack.

I forgot about the quarters in the water. The tooth fairy doesn't leave quarters anymore, sister.

Quarters are good in multiples. The tooth fairy isn't leaving one quarter, puh-lease.

I was beginning to think the quarters in a glass of water happened only at my house!!! Glad we share something. Merry Christmas.

We've thought about this recently as Emily is 4 1/2. She is such a light sleeper. I know there is no way I could open her door and rummage under her pillow for a tooth. She'd be up in 2 seconds. We decided to make (or have someone handy) make a little pillow that will hang on her door knob. The water is a good idea too. But, I'm not sure if I can even go in her room without being caught. Too risky!

We totally do the quarters (multiple) in the water - our tooth fairy leaves a little note and then changes the water color to match her dress that night. You know a girl wants to wear more than just white all the time.

Gina,
We leave the water in the kitchen overnight, so the toothfairy need not even enter the child's room. The pillow on the door is a good idea too.

Gray Family,
Changing the water color is a fun idea. When you say dress, do you mean nightgown? I'll have to remember that. It would kick things up a notch. But that's what the Grays do daily. Love it!

Marysue and Gray Family,
I'm glad to know others do the tooth in the water thing. I really do like it better. And once, the toothfairy emptied the water in the glass and left a dollar bill instead of quarters. Apparantly the t.f. runs out sometimes. The toothless child was just as pleased, if not more so.

i think i always felt jipped that i didn't get it under my pillow. but then i never really lived the tooth fairy fantasy; i remember neil asking mom if she made tooth necklaces out of all the teeth she collected.

Just giggling here and remembering how I used to find my teeth on the floor in the morning, after the tooth fairy had come. I guess the late night fumbling under my pillow wasn't quite worth it!!

We do the tooth in the glass of water too, and like the grays, once the toothfairy takes the tooth, the water turns whatever color the toothfairy's dress is. One time the water didn't turn a color (food coloring shortage?)and my kids were worried that the toothfairy was wearing a see-through dress that night. I explained that she must have been wearing a silver dress and that silver doesn't show up in the water.

Grays and Aimee,
Ooohhh, I get it now. The toothfairy's dress, not the child's. (Duh.)

I love the colored water idea, my daughter would totally be in to that! She hasn't lost any teeth yet. My hubby and I actually had an argument about the TF when Alex lost his first tooth...I bought this really cool resin fairy from Partylite, that is holding out her hand (perfect for a tooth!) and comes with a glass votive (for a candle) but I wanted to put the money in there. Hubby wanted to do the pillow thing, and I finally gave in because it wasn't worth arguing over...stubborn man!

OK, my girls were really bugged at the idea of some strange fairy sneaking into their room at night (back when they were five or so) :) AND reaching around under their pillow. I never thought about it in that way I guess. So we had to explain it all to them. No magical tooth fairies around here, but they still get the cash! Hmmmm.....
