movie stats

In honor of (and to copy) my sister's list of '07, I give you my movie review of the year. I watched 13 movies in 2008 - or at least I found 13 that looked somewhat familiar on the '08 release list.
QUICK STATS:
8 in the theater. 5 at home.
6 were animated or child driven.
THE LIST, in release-date order. blue = top 3.
  • 27 dresses (rental)
  • Mad Money (rental)
  • Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert - honorable mention
  • Penelope (rental)
  • Run, Fat Boy, Run (rental) - honorable mention
  • Leatherheads (rental)
  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
  • Kung Fu Panda - the obvious winner
  • Get Smart
  • Wall-E
  • Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
  • Bolt
  • Twilight
And below are the year's releases I would (definitely) and (maybe) like to see:
  • Valkyrie
  • Australia
  • Henry Poole is Here
  • 4 Christmases
  • Beverly Hills Chihuahua
  • Kit Kittredge
  • The Tale of Desperaux
So what were your favorites?

Abby,
I think Jack Black did a good job in Kung Fu. He is funny. As for Indiana Jones, and Twilight for that matter, they are telling of the quality of movies of late. Maybe they are just the best of the worst. Indiana was great because it was Indiana. Part of the legendary series. Entertaining, even if the story was lacking. And Twilight we have discussed. And while you did not bring that one up in your comment, I still feel a need to defend it. The movie followed the book pretty spot on, and I enjoyed that, even if the book is not my very favorite.

we saw valkyrie with my pop the other night and we all enjoyed. it was nice watching a movie in a theater that wasn't populated with 80% kids. :)

You need to watch "Be Kind, Rewind" with Jack Black, and "Son of Rambow" (with Clearplay).

"Kit Kittredge" was great. They need to make more kids movies like that.
