good mail

I really love mail. Not junk mail or bills, obviously. But mail addressed to me in someone's own handwriting. Yesterday was a good mail day. I received a small package from my talented friend, Kara. I have known Kara for less than a year. We met through our husbands. But I have gotten to know her well from an initial night out to dinner and then following her fun blog. She is easy-going and ambitious. Darling and smart. Kara recently hosted a giveaway - just because. And I was the lucky winner of one of her custom jewelry pieces! This girl's got skills. Look what she made just for me.
And then she threw this beauty in, as a bonus. Just because.
Thanks Kara! I love both necklaces - they are stunning.
And here's something another friend gave me yesterday: short blunt bangs. I don't know how to do short bangs. (When I've done this before, I end up growing them out into a more side-swept bang.) I'm hoping they will relax {read: lay flat} after a few days of training. And grow just a titch. And I look 12-ish. Other than that, I like them a lot. Thank you Leisel!
And Leisel, you are a magician with my grays.

You look great Sarah, as always. I can't do blunt bangs, not with this curly mess I have. Love the necklaces too. So cute!

oooo, OOO!! Does she have a site? I would love to invest in one of those beauties!

The one thing I don't like about bangs is that once you cut them, you're stuck for either great bangs like yours, or growing them right away and having a horrible time knowing what to do with them so that you can see: pin to the side, yuck, fall in your eyes, dumb, tuck behin ear, not long enough...I am soooo tempted to go through it again though...we'll see

i know your pain murielle, believe me.

aimee, click on her name on the post, or above (kara jayne) to get to her blog.

gina, my hair has a bit of wave so it mandates a flat iron everyday with this look. you are lucky to have curly cute hair all the time.

You're always so cute Sarah!

I love, love those necklaces! You are always in the know. I'm checking out your friends' blog now.

And I think your bangs look great. You have such a petite little face, you can totally pull them off. At least you don't have a huge forehead and cowlick like me. Bangs are tricky with those two marks against you.

Sarah said...

Jennifer,
fyi, I have 2 cowlicks on my forehead. They are mild, but they make themselves known everyday. That is why bangs are tricky for me. I also have discovered cowlicks at the base of my neck. Shor hair brings out all kinds of treasures.

I meant to tell you yesterday, cute hair! Also I liked your dress! Where do you do most of your shopping?

Since you were my inspiration, I thought I'd let you know that there are picture of my finished quilt on my blog if you'd like to check it out. I think I'm hooked!

And referring to this post, I absolutely love the bangs! (and that cute top you're wearing)

Oh, and I MUST point out that my word verification is "quilin" which makes me think that that's what quilting sounds like when said by a southerner. ;0

Shelley,
Thanks! I shop all over the place. From Forever 21 to Anthropologie (the sale rack, of course). That dress was from Gap. I liked yours too.

Anne,
I'm going to go check out your quilt right now! That's a very coincidental word verification. weird.

Sarah - Hi, dont know you but read your blog because of the link on AmyB's blog. If you love Forever 21 and Anthropology (I love love love those aswell) then make sure you check out H&M too. I love that store and think you'd love it too!

Sarah said...

Erin,
Thanks for the tip. I hear lots of good things about H&M, but as far as I can tell, there is no online shopping option. Never been to the store either. There is talk of building one in Arizona, but I don't know when that will be. The prices seem great!

Erin said...

The prices are great! It's like forever 21 but better and a little bit older. That's a bummer that you dont have any around you. They finally just put some in the Seattle area where I live. But before that I would just do a crazy big shopping trip every time I went to visit my sisters in San Fran. Hopefully you get one near you soon!

looks like it's going to open in Scottsdale this spring. Is that near you? http://www.azcentral.com/style/fashion/articles/2008/05/15/20080515biz-hmstore0516.html

yes. and no. that's where I head for good shopping. it's an hour away. I will make it over for sure.
