She is beautiful inside and out. And talented. Wow! She sings, she teaches, she performs, she plays the piano.... She taught me the value of red lipstick and the value in saying "fabulous!"
She loves her family. Selfless is her middle name. I cannot count the occasions where money was spent on a new dress for me, which meant she could not afford one for herself. I'm pretty sure she wore the same dress to church from 1979-1982. And looked good doing it.
She is ever eager to swaddle grand babies in her arms - she can magically calm even the most fussy and irritable baby, with her gentle touch. And the adoration is not limited to the infants. She is a hands-on Nana: always reading stories to, or doing puzzles with, her grand kids who are ALL charmed by her. How DOES she do it?

Your mom really has't changed at all since the age of 4. I knew it was her as soon as I saw the picture.
We scored in the mom and grandmother-to-our-children department.
for reals.
And you follow in her footsteps beautifully...
Gina,
You are so nice!
I agree, your mom is awesome! Happy Birthday Amye, I love the top photo, so cute and so obviously you! And the fabulous comment made me smile I can picture her saying that:)
I loved the picture of you mom--she doesn't look much different today....just wiser.. Thanks for letting me share in her suprise party. I felt so welcomed even without Frank being there. He hated to miss it. We think the world of your folks..Frank will especiall miss his regular contact with your Dad.
Sarah, thank you for the beautiful words. I am blessed beyond measure. I adore my family members-that is a fact! Thank you also-Courtney, Emily, Abby, Gina, Nancy, and Diana. I had a stunning birthday, about which I will write soon. After the Wizard of Oz is done!
Three cheers for my second mom during the formative East Kennewick years! You are still loved, admired and appreciated from way up here in Washington. Thanks again for driving Sarah and I everywhere, forcing us to go to CBC concerts that always turned out to be good despite our complaints, and always showing up with a balloon bouquet. (I know young Sarah rolled her eyes, but trust me...the rest of us kids LOVED it.)
You were one of my earliest examples, outside my own family, of what a "fabulous" mother is. :) I mean it. Happy Birthday!
Jenny,
That was so kind. I miss those Kennewick days like crazy. I've told you this before, but one of the hardest things about moving away was taking you and Sarah from each other. What a wonderful friendship that was. And thankfully, still is.
sarah, i love the grandma shirt your mom is wearing... did you guys have that printed or did you do some kind of iron-on??
very interested... good grand-FATHER'S day present!
p.s. i can't look at your blog too often, you seem like you might be perfect and it is just depressing.
:)
oh, and does diana have a blog?
my dad made that shirt for my mom with iron-ons he made from actual photographs of the grandkids names he found in New York City and other places. - Street names, store names, etc. Pretty cool.
and diana does have a blog and i think the reason i didn't link to it is because she does not update it very often. much less than me even.
perfect smerfect. you know better!
