"What's a baby book?" cried the 4 older children.

I'm on the hunt for baby books so my babies' lives won't pass by without proper documentation. My poor eldest children only know of their mother's empty good intentions. Sure, their lives are {somewhat} documented in scrapbooks (partial, for one, maybe two), calendars (one), journals (all), and typed up computer entries (one) destined to one day be printed out as a baby book. But an ACTUAL baby book? Nope, that's eluded me. Until now. There's this one that I love. But $110 x 2 = end of story. Then there's this clean and classy one found on etsy.
And these two are not available anymore, but I love the 1974 vintage charm. This one is quite stunning. Also on etsy. This one is a beauty too. Yep, etsy. What do you think?
If I could find the same baby book that my mom had for me, I would buy it. I think the publisher has reworked it to be more modern. In a not-so-good way.

I know exactly what you mean about the baby books. I just bought two of the same store bought books and kept them on my nightstand for the first 6 months. I swear I wrote something new almost every day. Now, they are covered in dust. Sad...

or you could make your very own. doesn't really matter what you do right now- as long as you do something. anything. even if it means keeping info in a word document until you find that perfect thing. :)
i think i like that last one, though. looks classy and fun and simple.

oh amy, i sooooo need your help in this area. the word document is what i've done for owen, but still haven't printed it or found a pleasing way to save it in book form. it's just so nice to have a book with written prompts to keep me on track.

someday i want to see you kids' books and how you did it all.

Such cute choices Sarah!
Love the etsy options, especially the last one.

I can relate to spotty documentation. My oldest ones got more attention than the younger, I'm afraid, but at least with the younger we've got gads of digital camera shots!

With a baby book you've got the decisions of what to focus on already made for you. . .and let's face it, twins are fun for capturing their novel chaos!

i was going to recommend the edna mae books from etsy! we featured her in the beginnings of our website and fell in love with her designs.

www.petitcollage has a cute one but their style isn't for everyone.

the binth has always had my vote but eek! the price!

thanks sarah. i should have asked the designer about design questions.

and it sounds like amy and becky and me are on your same page. i just emailed ednamae with some questions.

Sarah,
i happened to see the petitcollage one yesterday (on barnes and noble or amazon). it's darling. but i think i am leaning towards the refillable page ones.

thanks. i'm glad we are thinking alike.

i like our old ones too. i jot things about the kids in a moleskin notebook when i think of it. and then the blog. pretty pathetic.

your new header is fabulous. i love it!

love the binder-style design - & ednamae also has some cute inserts {their button folder} & you can always create your own and insert!

Sar, off the subject of what baby book to get, I just want to thank you for coming clean about the less-than-full scrapbooks. This is source of constant stress for me. I really, really want to save and cherish every detail of my kids' lives, but the truth is I absolutely hate scrapbooking of any kind, so I don't do it, then I stress even more.

So yes, I'm taking comfort in your psuedo-failure--that's what a pitiful friend I am.

I'm just so impressed that you're still blogging. More than I can say! (And I think all the book choices are beautiful.)

jen,
you have no idea how "less than full" they are.

There are some at Desert Book... however, I think what you have pictured here is better than any there. By Far.
