Last week, Jonah went home from school with his friend, Adam. Adam saw a woman that he thought looked like me and said to Jonah,
"Look, there's your mom."
Jonah: "That's not my mom."
Adam's mom: "It kind of looks like her, she has black hair."
Jonah: "No, it doesn't look like her at all. My mom doesn't wear fancy pants."

i'm totally cracking up because i know exactly what jonah is talking about.
i don't wear fancy pants either.
oh, and my kids describe my hair as black too...funny.
love it! but what are fancy pants, jonah?
p.s. your tumblr picture is awesome! where did you find that?!
kara jayne,
yeah, my hair is not black, but my kids think it is.
abby,
i took that photo at the ranch a few years ago. that old wagon has been for a long time. i bet we're related to the maker.
i'm trying to get into tumblr, but i forget about it most of the time. you have like 1000 people checking yours. what in the world?
That is hysterical.
I haven't worn fancy pants or anything else fancy since I had kids.
You are plenty fancy without fancy pants. :o)
Ha ha ha! I love Jonah.
wonder what the fancy pants looked like?
Kids are so funny about how they perceive their mothers!
(I straightened my hair one day, and Amanda didn't recognize me when I picked her up at school!)
that is so funny, I wonder what kind of pants she was wearing. Maybe you should make yourself a pair fancy pants, for your son's sake.
the best. working from home, I don't get many fancy pants opportunities. wait - jeans are fancy right [maybe the ones without holes?] ;)
That is so funny. You need to post a picture of what he thinks fancy pants are.
Hey... fancy pants... I am sure I can find some for you, if you are in need of a pair.
That is DARLING!!!
seriously funny! Now if we only knew what those fancy pants looked like.
Oh, that is too funny. It's true that kids have strange perceptions of their mothers. I remember looking at my mom in shorts in the summertime and being truly angry that her legs were so white. Why couldn't she get a tan like the rest of us? All she needed was eight hours a day to lay by the pool, like us kids...
You must ask Jonah for a definition of fancy pants and post on it--I'm dying to hear!
How cute!
Too funny, this reminds me of a similar thing Hailey said to me. I need to post about it.
Hahaha! ;-)
Well, as long as you wear THE pants in the family, it doesn't matter if they're fancy or not :)
I have a pair of pants that my mom gave me that I use to work in. Katie calls them my "MOM jeans" because they are not stylish.
