houndstooth

This quilt has been a long-standing project, and I am so excited to have the top finally done. I really liked watching the houndstooth pattern come together. It is a rewarding, darling pattern, but also a big time commitment (lots of piecing). I just don't have lengthy stretches of time to quilt anymore, and the short stretches are interrupted by fatigue, the Olympics, dinner, pretty much everything. This may not be my time, nor season to quilt, but I would like to think I can produce something every once in a great while. So here's to production and a cute new pattern!
I hope to show the finished product soon. Any thoughts on how I should quilt this one? Straight lines, diagonal lines, swirly loops? I'm leaning more toward something straight and masculine. The quilt is for an out-of-town, longtime friend's baby who is not really a baby anymore, so the quilt needs to match his toddler-esque boy nature.
The fun pattern is from V & Co. The color possibilities for this pattern are endless. This particular fabric is gray (not tan) and off-white. More details soon.

I'm always amazed at how much quilting you ARE able to get done!

That makes me want to make one too. So very cute! I love the grey & off white.

I like your idea of a masculine quilting style. Can't wait to see what you decide on!

And I know what you mean about not being your season to get quilts made. I've felt that many of times.

Whoa what a cool pattern! I love it! The pattern is kind of mesmerizing me. And BRAVO for quilting with 2-year-old twins. BRA-VO.

I was wondering if you could tell me where you buy your flannel from or what brand you use? I have had really bad luck (like major) with some local chain store flannel and have been trying to locate a good quality flannel to put on the back of my houndstooth quilt. Also did you prewash your flannel or did it handle just fine with out washing it first. Thanks for all the wonderful quilts!

Sissy Sue,
I actually bought gray flannel from the big chain fabric store for this quilt and it worked well. I did not prewash it, just washed the whole quilt when I was done. I didn't have any problems with it.
I know Camille Roskelley has made some flannels with her Moda brand and they are good quality. I have used them a few times.
