hob knob

I am desperate to find safety door knob covers for the oval doorknobs throughout our house.  The regular covers are too small and catch on the knob when turned, thus their efficacy is nil.  I have searched and searched online, and it seems that oval doorknobs have the baby safety industry stumped.  Really?  All they would have to do is produce an extra large knob cover.

I did find one site where someone claimed to have solved the problem.  Do you know what she did?  She replaced ALL the knobs in her house with round ones.

I am hoping someone out there knows how to fix my problem, without us having to replace all the knobs.  George opens every door in the house.  Then Hank follows him and shuts the door.  Yesterday they emptied Grace's dresser onto the floor.  Not only is it super annoying, it is also dangerous and I just can't believe it is so difficult to make an oval knob lock.

Any ideas?  Please, my sanity is at stake.

We turned the knobs in the house around, so the lock is on the outside. that stopped Heath for a while. He really had no idea how to get around that until he was 2. It's a thought!

Aimee,
That would work for some of our doors, but the children's bedroom doors have no locks. Same with the pantry and laundry room.

I have an idea . . . not the best idea, I'm sure, but you could use baby gates in the doorframes. You couldn't shut the doors, but I doubt they could open them.

I used a sock over the handle attached with a ponytail band or zip tie.

Tarrant,
I will try it.

Good luck. It worked on round ones for the most part. At least you aren't out any money if it doesn't work.

The pantry door opens out, right? You can put one of those simple flip-hinged locks up high for that door. My mom still has the one on her pantry that she installed when my younger sibs were small. It comes in handy now for the grandkids. Don't have a clever solution for the other rooms though!
