When my sister, Emily, was about 15, she found herself needing some new clothes and a new do. I remember being appalled when my mom GAVE HER $90 in which to buy these items. That was a lot of money circa 1990! Since I had my own money from summer jobs, I pretty much paid for my own clothes and didn't get such nice handouts.*
My brother, Neil, made up a rap about Emily and her new found cash. {Yeah, it was that big a deal at our house.} He chanted,
"She gots ninety bucks for a haircut and clothes"
{"gots" is rapper lingo.}
Especially since I wasn't very good at sharing my clothes with her. The long and short of it is I always think of the Emily Rap when I get my hair cut, as I did this last week. stacked with bangs. And for much less than 90 bucks. Thanks Leisel.
Neil or Emily, do you remember the rest of that rap?
*um, I'm going to hear about that one.

You look fantastic! I love the cut. Love it!
Love. I've been debating whether or not to chop my hair and now I REALLY want to. David might hunt you down for this! :)
Whenever I comment on your family's blog I always feel like I am interrupting a good family joke. So I'll be brief.
Love the hair.
c jane, I love your comments.
Sarah, I feel like you are always one step ahead of me in the hair department! I've been contemplating the pixie for quite some time. While yours is not quite a pixie, it's close, and more importantly, I LOVE IT! So so cute.
Also, you AND Emily both play the "I paid for everything myself card." I'm not buying it. Pun intended. (But then that's coming from the youngest child for which Mom and Dad bought new furniture when the friends were coming over.)
I remember Delias from elementry/middle school, seeing your fresh hair cut makes me think how bad mine needs cut already. Quite the upkeep with short hair. Its only been about 4 weeks!
Naylor Family,
Yours still looks so great! I know it's a commitment cut.
Thanks all!
Liz, if you do it, and it doesn't jive with David, I'll take the blame.
Abby, do the pixie thing. You'll cry for 36 hours and then love the new you! And what's this about new furniture to impress your friends? I never...
That was just a joke Neil or Emily used to tell. Meaning, "Boy, Abby is spoiled!"
I feel like there is a lot of dragging Emily's name through the muds in this post/these comments. Abby, you are spoiled, still. Just enjoy it. Sarah, do I have to bring up the rent issue AGAIN? As in, Dad paid for yours? So I gots ninety bucks. That's about the most that's ever been spent on me (by anyone, including me) for a haircut and clothes. I think it's high time someone gots me another ninety bucks so I can get some more clothes.
Super, super cute hair. Is it a Bahamas 'do? When can we see you when you get back?
I remember the guilt I felt the day my mom took me to the mall and spent $40 on Leather Vans. I wanted the so bad I could taste it. But then, when I saw her pay for them, I felt like garbage. We always had to work for stuff like that.
Ps. Owens shirt reminds me of the one that Michelle Pfiffer wore of her sons, to the meeting in "One fine day." Such a cute movie. And Owen is so much cuter.
How is the tounge, by the way?
The tongue is fine. He's still trying to find the scissors to do it again, I'm sure!
I don't remember the One Fine Day reference. Aimee, you have an amazing memory!
Emily,
no mud dragging. Just that 90 bucks seemed like so much money at the time. (What I could have done with 90 bucks in college... groceries for a month AND several new outfits AND swedish fish at the bookstore). You're the best Emily! And a good sport!!!
Cute haircut on a cute girl! Cute boy! Funny post! I had a great chuckle. AG
Did I sound mad? I wasn't mad. I just really want someone to gots me another 90 bucks for a haircut and clothes.
Jay is driving me crazy because he won't stop saying "I gots 90 bucks" and laughing about this post. :P
Jay makes me laugh, anytime.
Isn't Leisel the best? I really like it, I wish I could pull that look off, you sure can. Looking good.
I love the hair Sarah! Of course, you always look so great!!
Hey Sar!
I LOVE the hair! I can't get over how you make any hairstyle look great!
I remember those days in college when we both would have loved another 90 bucks for anything!! But who are you kidding? Your dates paid for all your food! Three meals a day date lady! "I'm busy that night, but I'm free for lunch!" :) HA!
Jen, I think that was YOU! Those were the days.
