girth

n. girth [gəːθ] 1. the measurement round a tree, a person's waist etc. WARNING. Objects in mirror are BIGGER than they appear.
I am measuring 10 weeks(probably more by now) ahead of a normal, one-baby (singleton) pregnancy.
update: After re-reading this post, it sounds like I am complaining - but I didn't mean it that way. Just that it's remarkable what the human body can do: Like stretch beyond capacity. Being "great with child(ren)" certainly has its downsides, but getting bigger also means my babies are growing, which makes me very happy.

oh please you look awesome, even carrying twins! Can't wait to see what you've most likely been making for these two little boys!

abby,
thanks. it is a non-maternity shirt i squeezed one last wear out of. thus the non buttoning of the lower buttons.

nancy,
thanks. i am actually stumped on what to make for these boys. so many cute fabrics and patterns i'm in love with. how do i choose? love your new comment photo.

taya,
thanks.

You look so stinkin' cute Sarah! So, itf your'e measuring 10 weeks ahead does that mean when you reach 30 weeks you will look like you did with just one at 40? It is amazing what our bodies can do to acclamate to whatever conditions are presented. I would be so worried that my skin would just start tearing.:( I hope that doesn't happen to you.:)

oh no! i can't see the picture. i've been getting a lot of that lately! hopefully i can figure out the problem. i'm sure you look fabulous!

Stop looking so cute and other-than-the-belly skinny. 'Kay, thanks.

Lindsay,
I am at 29 1/2 weeks, and people say to me everyday, "You're about to pop!" or "Anyday now, right?" All of our many twin parent friends assure me I will be measuring 50+ weeks even before I hit 40 weeks. Yikes!

Oh Sarah, you look adorable. I'm so happy everything is going well with your pregnancy. Keep those boys growning and keep taking photos for us.

Seriously - you look amazing.

a m a z i n g ! I dream of looking like you when my "time" comes again. You are too stinkin' beautiful.

you look so darn cute!!! how does that happen when you are 28 weeks pregnant with twins? seriously it is no fair.

Becky said...

Darn it if twins don't look good on you! (or is that 'good in you'?) Anyway, I agree with your update that the female body's capacity to grow two people at once is astonishing! And you're just getting started :) Wait till you can balance a dinner plate full of food on your belly. . .

first of all you are gorgeous!! so amazing that there is two babies in there. you are doing awesome.

Sarah said...

Gina,
I think about your little Noah a lot and how early he came. Glad he's doing well!

Emz,
I just realized who you are! So great to hear from you and check in on your blog!

Becky,
I use this belly as a desk for writing, a crumb collector, etc. It won't be long before I'll be doing a whole dinner plate, I'm sure. I remember you with twins at Emily and Steve's wedding. That seems so long ago.

All,
THANKS!

Becky,
What I meant to say is it seems so long ago, and yet not. It's so clear in my mind.

you do look awesome. love the photo collage thing; is it that picasso thing again? measuring 10 weeks over is hilarious [to me]. do you feel like you're ready to pop- or are you feeling pretty good?

amyraye said...

btw, i just ordered that blue-striped shirt from old navy yesterday. glad to see i'll be in your fashion circle. :)

Sarah said...

amyraye,
yep, it's a picassa thing.

i think measuring 10 weeks over is pretty funny too. i can either laught or cry. might as well laugh. i do feel like i should be delivering soon. i notice the weight of this belly every hour of the day, including when i'm sleeping. how's it going to be in 4 more wekks? 8?

amyraye said...

i just pulled up the photo to show damon and realized it was the green shirt i ordered; not the blue one (unless it's the same style because i ordered a blue and a green one).

Sarah said...

amyraye,
the blue one is gap. they're similar.

Sarah said...

amyraye,
are you just NOW needing maternity clothes???

amyraye said...

i have chosen my [stretchy] clothing wisely up until this point. i've never been this pregnant into the winter months before. wasn't crazy about my maternity clothing selection [3 pairs of overalls in my box!!] from previous pregnancies. i have gotten by up until now, but i'm getting worried as the seasons are changing and i think i have maybe 2 pairs of pants that i keep wearing day after day. don't worry: i'm absolutely, undeniably pregnant-looking.

Anna said...

You are the cutest pregnant woman ever! How do you pull that off??

Hilary said...

Well, I'd say you look smaller than any other twin carrying woman I've ever seen! You will probably bounce right back to your slim little self!

My husband is a family friend and that's how I stumbled over to take a peek of your adorable photos. I remember at 27 weeks with my twins measuring 42 weeks and they just stopped measuring after that. No one wanted to know:) And I do understand the, I'm so grateful to be pregnant and I so wish I weren't pregnant, in the same breath. Now looking back I wish I had documented with photos my body pregnant with twins. I felt distorted at the time and avoided the camera but now I think it is so amazing. 28 weeks is a big accomplishment. I hope you have many (comfortable) weeks more. Hang in there. You're beautiful!

Agreed, you look fantastic. Found you through Nienie / Janssen / Sherry / someone...promise I'm not 100% stalker.

I think you look wonderful. I am glad to hear that it isn't that terrible. I wondered how your tiny little back, and body would handle the load. But you look so great!

Sarah said...

tessa,
tell steve hello!

Sarah said...

angela noelle,
any friend of nienie/janssen/sherry/someone is a friend of mine!

Muche said...

Again, you're pregnant? I couldn't even tell ;)))))
And btw, you look great, you don't look "butt pregnant" which is such a blessing!

JenJ said...

How do you only grow in your belly you beautiful girl!!!!!!
Wow, ten weeks huh? That is pretty amazing. The whole twin thing is way cool I think. Two for the price of...right? :) You didn't seem like you were complaining.
Hugs!!!!

Butt pregnant! Oh my goodness. Murielle, there is no one like you!

Sarah said...

Only Murielle can get away with that!

Sarah said...

Sarah, I'm not sure there's too many out there that can carry twins the way you do. You look as cute as ever! When you're done with that wardrobe, send it north will ya? Shopping stinks here.

Sarah said...

Sarah,
Are you expecting?!!!!

Sarah said...

No... not yet, anyway! Hopefully soon! But, the postal system is tardy so perhaps by the time I receive the package, I will be?!? :)
