we're in love

See George.
See Hank.

See Hank visit George in the newborn intensive care unit.
See Hank and George home together at last.

Hank William - 6 lbs
George Golden - 5 lbs 6 oz
19 3/4 inches each
The boys are here.
George spent a week in the NICU to recover from the shock of his breech birth and typical preemie issues. that was hard. It was not easy leaving our baby at the hospital, but we are so thankful to George's nurses who took temporary ownership of our little guy and gave him extra special care. They were always eager to hear how Hank was doing too. They seemed to love these boys and that made it easier to leave George when Hank and I were sent home.
When we went to visit him yesterday, we got the surprise green light to take our baby George home!
We are thrilled to have the brothers reunited! Hank was a different baby with George next to him last night: he actually slept instead of being awake and alert at 3 am. That twin connection is real.
I know I am glossing over our experiences this last week. Don't get me wrong - it was hard. Mark and I had our overwhelming meltdown moments {mostly me}. And we are tired. Everyone warned us we would be, but wow, we are really tired. We are also on a baby high that i hope gets us through the fatigue of the first year! We are genuinely thankful to have our babies home with us. Thanks to all for your love and concern.

Oh, Sarah! They're so beautiful and how wonderful to have them together again. Separation of mommy and newborns (and brothers) = hard times! So happy you've got big girl helpers at home as they'll make a big difference to you.

Hoorah that they're home!
Much to be thankful for this thanksgiving :)

Wonderful!! So glad you are all home. It is hard to leave your heart in the NICU. Now you can settle into this new life together. Enjoy, it may be a sleepy blur but it will go so quickly. And may I say you look absolutely lovely in your pics as always. Way to make such an exhausting time look glamorous. You're inspiring:) I'm excited to peek back for updates on the little men.

I have twins too. And the second was born breach. One was sent home 4 days before the other...heartbreaking times. But I can say that in the 11 years since- there have been so many lovely precious hysterical moments...that these crazy tired days of adjustment will just seem to fade away!

oh- and ours shared a crib for the first 5 months...until they started hitting each other and waking each other up. They shared a full size bed in lieu of toddler beds and even now share a room. Mine are girls - so it may be a bit different. But that twin bond will become more and more evident. I can only imagine how it is having your best friend with you..all the time...everyday...everynight.

Best of luck! Let me know if you need any tips...going to the grocery store, schedules, etc! Multiples are a whole different realm!

Congrats Sarah! You look beautiful. So glad the boys are together. My 2nd twin was breech too! Not a fun way to have a baby. Would love to come sit with them so you can sleep, shower, eat, whatever.

Hey Sarah, it's me again. I was starting my morning load of laundry and decided as someone whose known you for over 20 years, I must warn you about the laundry. I know you have 4 other children, but the laundry doubles when you add one baby. Adding 2...oh my, I hope you have a jumbo front loader washer to get you through. Burp clothes, bibs and blankets - oh my! If anyone asks what they can do to help, tell them laundry!!!! Good luck! :o)

They are so sweet and beautiful, Sarah. You and Mark must be beaming through the exhaustion. You're an experienced mom and will get through the newborn exhaustion well with all the joy to follow.

Congratulations Sarah! Your babies are beautiful and so are you, as usual. I miss seeing you and Meghan misses Owen and asks about him often. We'll call you when we get back in town and have Owen over. Enjoy your new little boys. Mikayla is so jealous of Molly right now.

You are amazing! I'm not sure how you manage two newborns, because I'm tired with one. Oh but they are so wonderful. I love the picture of them all wrapped up next to each other in the crib. So sweet!

I love you! They are beautiful. I can't wait to get over my cold, so that I can come see them, and take a shift so you can nap!

Love seeing them together, AND, count me in for some baby holding or grocery shopping. Whatever you need! Not to brag, but I am a great diaper changer & bottle feeder. I will happily take a turn while you enjoy a nap (or just a shower :) )!

I feel like I should come over and help or something. You know that once you have multiples that you are in a club because we just understand each other:-) Are you keeping them on the same schedule? I know how exhausted you must be especially trying to man the fort with the other kids. Anyway pls. let me know if you need anything. I don't post very much on my blog about the nitty gritty of multiples but in the beginning it can be a little tricky. Are you breastfeeding...I have a few tips that helped me so if you need them send me an email.

Well a major congrats. Nothing better than 2 babies (except for maybe just one baby...hahaha). No really you are in for some real treats.
