kitchen before and after

our kitchen makeover has been at least a year in the making.
before:  tan linoleum, tan laminate counters, leaky rusted faucet.
kind of blah.doors off
concrete countertops in - love these!  i've wanted concrete for so long.  done by our friend, jeremy in the neighborhood.cabinets and backsplash painted (i was 8 months pregnant.  after being gone all day, we came back home to out-of-control fumes so the whole family slept at the in-laws for a night.  our painter was not even bothered by it.  said he couldn't smell a thing.  um, that's not good.)
linoleum and carpet gone.voila!
another angle
the details
i'm trying these pellegrinos out for the summer.  may change them out for something else.  also probably something for the tops of the cabinets.  maybe. plants.
thanks to denise, who has a great eye, and gave me the push i needed to paint my cabinets white.  i love them!  and to denise (and deborah), who found the floors at costco, and the stools (love) at overstock.

i wish me kitchen was always this clean.  baby bottles and formula dominate these days.

I love your new kitchen. Great colors from the cabinets to the walls to the counter tops and the flooring. It's so bright and fresh. Something I need to think about for my own kitchen.
Ps. love the stools too!

LOVE!!!!! Will you share your paint colors please? I would love to do concrete counters and then a butcher block island, but I doubt the hubs would ever agree.

Its all fabulous!!!

What did you do with the microwave power cord in the cabinet above the stove?

Sarah said...

rainylakechick,
we had our trim guy build a "false back" in that cabinet, so it is more shallow now. we can access the microwave cord and plug through the top (he cut a hole up there).
his idea, not ours, but i thought it was perfect.

Sarah, It looks great! I have dreams about what I want to do with my kitchen. I have always wanted a white, so it's fun to see how yours turned out. Also wood floors are my favorite. I think they make any room feel so comfy.

Gorgeous! I'm addicted to Pelligrino... love the look, but that would never work for me because I would just drink it all.... with a wedge of lime....

Wow! Very fun Sarah!!!! I love the concrete. I had no idea about concrete. I have been out of the kitchen remodel "know" for about five years.

Beautiful. I love the silver sage color. I want to paint my kitchen that color but I would have to do a complete kitchen redo and I done with that for a while. LOVE my wood floors--hope you love yours. How is the concrete to clean? Didn't know about concrete countertops.

Concrete is easy to clean. It is sealed, so you just wipe it down, like you would granite, or any other solid surface.

I am so happy for you! It is a great day when there are no projects going on in your fmailies main living area! And it looks so nice. You deserve it!

Wow, thanks for the inspiration. We moved into this home in March and have been mustering the strength to paint cabinets and revamp the kitchen this summer. Yours looks amazing. Also, is your concrete guy for hire? We're still deciding what we want for counters.

Fabulous! LOVE it all. As for the plug access - you could add accent lights above (I love to only have those and accent lights underneath the cabinets on when the kitchen is not in use at night) and at Christmas I used that outlet to light my garland up on top. I LOVE that look at Christmas.:) This has your fabulous taste all over it, and I hope it makes you smile everyday!

Love it! What can you tell me about your table and chairs? I'd love to know where you got them!
Thanks :)

We bought the table and chairs several years ago from Design Within Reach. I don't know if they still carry them.
