mark my words

Mark recently celebrated his 37th birthday.  So I made him this 37-things-I-love-about-you garland.  It spanned much of our living room.  [Idea from here.]

He had fun reading each one.  Yes, the banner is still up.  Can that pass for Halloween decor?
My mom came over later so Mark and I could go to La Grande Orange.  SO SO GOOD.  It never disappoints.
Then our friend, Kim, who shares Mark's birthdate, brought over cinnamon rolls.  Yum.

And Grace made a very cute and clever card.  Which was actually a menu and everything was Mark a la Mode, or Roast Mark.
It was a great day/weekend.  Especially with General Conference to watch the following 2 days.
This is George, wondering where the garbage can went.

Great idea Sarah. It was probably nice to sit and think up all those reasons why you love him. It makes us remember how lucky we are. Thanks for sharing. Your babies are getting way to big! :)

love the garland idea, will have to file it away for my husbands 36th this feb.

however, i love the photo of george. why? because we have those pajamas too (only the pink girly version) and I also had to cut the feet off!!

I'm glad Mark had a great birthday. I want to read Grace's card again. I think I was holding a baby when I saw it and I didn't get the full effect. You were very clever to write the "37 ways . . "

Heather, That's funny that you cut the feet off too. There's so much more life in footed pjs if you do. However, these are the first babies I have ever thought to do it for.

That's such a cute idea Sarah! I might have to steal that one some time. Happy Birthday Mark!

abby,
I would not have recognized his likeness to bobby, but I can sort of see it. I need to watch the show again to confirm.

You are the cutest super wife ever. And Grace is so neat. I love that little girl, and would steal her from you. Any time. So watch your back! Thanks for the fun idea.

The garland is such a great idea. Can you keep it each year and just add one? :o) Ah...Noah has yet to discover the garbage can. We'll be in trouble soon enough.

Gina,
Yep, Mark teases me about next year being too easy.

Love this idea! I did "35 reasons that I love you" for Derrick's 35th, but I just wrote them all on a piece of paper and gave them to him--way less charming. I'm totally copying this for his 40th (maybe by then he'll forget that I sort of did it for him.) Thanks for another great idea. You make everything with your family so fun, but also know how to keep it simple. I really admire that.

Hi Sarah--
My friend Terri Moore showed me your blog and I am loving your quilts! To die for! What a talent! Do you ever teach quilting classes? Or would you consider? Or where would you suggest I start if I wanted to begin learning how?

Thanks,
Erin

Erin,
Thanks! I have never [really] taught classes. Unless you count an hour at Relief Society.

I don't know that I feel qualified to formally teach classes. But if I were you, and wanted to get into quilting, I would check out a local quilt shop. I'm not sure where exactly you live, but there's got to be one relatively close. They have beginner classes and they teach about the basics, and what tools you need, etc. I never did that, but wish I did. Oh, and use nice fabric. How's that for vague. No really, I buy most of my stuff online [links on my blog]. Good luck.

Your photos on your blog are gorgeous!!!!

Thanks Sarah--I actually live in Craig and Julie's ward. So I am on the west side. There are a couple of quilt shops I'm going to look into to see about a class. And I'll check out the links on your blog for resources. Can't wait to learn! LMK if you teach--I'd even come to your RS to learn! :)
