a cape and a mask make anything cute

The boys in our family prefer commercially produced valentines with superheroes like Spiderman and R2D2 (yes, he's a hero of sorts). But Grace and I were smitten with a different kind of superhero on Pinterest and we couldn't pass it up. He's a little Nacho Libre-esque, if you ask me.
After much cutting, and a much-too-late-in-the-evening run to Walgreens for suckers, we brought this superhero to life.
We cannot get over how much we love this little guy (even if I did buy the wrong kind of suckers with extra wrapper twisted at the top). Grace is excited to give them to her friends today.
Happy Valentine's day and Happy 100 years Arizona!

happy

How do I adequately pay tribute to my favorite person on his birthday? Do I gush about his financial and organizational skills that seem to make up for the lack of mine? Do I go on and on about how he helps me everyday with housework and keeping the kids happy?Do I wax poetic about his optimism and willingness to see past all of my flaws and about how he happily wakes up in the middle of the night to offer to rub out the cramp in my foot or just talk because I can't sleep, only to wake up at 4:30 everyday to go exercise because he has incredible will power (and early-waking genes)?
Or maybe I simply say that he is the best friend a girl could ever have and that I LOVE that I KNOW he LOVES ME. I love him too.
Happy Birthday babe!

5

In April, Mark and I celebrated our anniversary. FIVE YEARS. A few things I love about Mark: He is smart and funny and humble and patient and really good looking and forgiving and he took me to Cabo San Lucas to celebrate our 5 years together. Nevermind that 100 of his co-workers {and their spouses} joined us. It was a great trip, regardless of who went with us or who picked up the tab. No, especially because of that. The timing was perfect. I'm a happy girl.

valentine stimuli

I borrowed this big idea from Jordan. The message is my own.It was a big hit. In fact, by Mark's request, it is hanging above the computer in the office. The kids each got one too. Different messages like: "You're dinosaurific." and "I'm bananas for you." and "My heart jumps for you." and "You're the sprinkles on my ice cream."
