Foyled Again

For all of you suffering from Downton Abbey withdrawals, I'd like to suggest a different, but equally fabulous British series, to get you through the rest of the year: Foyle's War. It is beautifully written, beautifully acted and beautifully filmed: Even the murder and crime scenes are stunning. And don't get me started on the clothes.
I love everything about this show. Everything.

Since 2002, there have been 22 hour-and-a-half episodes. And I hear that a new season will be released this year. (So lots to keep you busy while you wait for that other British show to return. Quite frankly, your loyalties may change.) We are on season 3 and I am already dreading the end.
I have to thank in-laws, Dave and Diane, who convinced us we would both enjoy the show. (Unlike Downton, which is a very one-sided interest at our house.) Trust me, you'll love it and your husband/boyfriend/brother will love it too!

Also, I dare you not to consider naming your next child Honeysuckle after you have watched a season or two.

i used to love to go to the movies

I just looked at the movies of 2010 list and realized I only saw three of them, including Netflix rentals.

I feel good about this list.  I don't think I missed much.

*Good idea, but I did not enjoy.

In honor of (and to copy) my sister's list of '07, I give you my movie review of the year. I watched 13 movies in 2008 - or at least I found 13 that looked somewhat familiar on the '08 release list.

The Best of Both Worlds

Things I learned at the Hannah Montana Concert Movie:
1. Miley Cyrus is a very talented girl
2. Girls ages 5 - 11 can really scream
3. There's a new animated 3-D movie coming out that looks really cute *update: Molly told me that the new 3-D movie is not a cartoon. Real people and something about the center of the earth. Obviously not paying much attention.
4. 3-D glasses give me a headache
5. Debbie Gibson and Tiffany have nothin' on Miss Montana
6. That girl is making some BANK! or should be.
7. The Jonas brothers are the hottest thing? if you're ages 5-11
8. Moms get a little kooky when taking their daughters to a "rock concert" - possibly reliving their Debbie Gibson days. PUSHY, LINING UP HOURS BEFOREHAND, DRESSING THEIR LITTLE DARLINGS TO THE NINES. Not me personally though.
9. Miley Cyrus is the granddaughter of Dolly Parton {OK, I didn't learn that at the concert, but Mark told me after the fact. Is that true? I'm too lazy to verify.}
10. My 9 year old and 6 yr old know all the lyrics to every HM song. Who knew?
