I wasn't going to post this yet, but I've had it done for quite some time and I'm in a blogging schlump. This is for the baby of a friend whose shower I missed last month. She has not seen it yet. Is that bad form? Sometimes I post gifts to friends/family when I know they will absolutely not be peeking in on my blog. But this one is if-y. I will not say who it is for. How's that for keeping it a secret. The green fabric is new Heather Bailey {LOVE LOVE LOVE HER}. The binding is Joel Dewberry. {ALSO LOVE} I hope you enjoy this softie, mystery recipient. I'll get it wrapped and over to you soon!

nicely folded

I like this fabric.
I wish I could figure out how to make stretchy minky work with non-stretchy cotton. No matter how I cut them, they never quite match up when sewn. This equals BUNCHING. If the softy were to stay forever folded, it would be OK. Or even better, gently cuddled around a baby. But you know mommy will, sooner or later, lay the blanket down flat and try to refold. Bunching will be displayed. Flaws will be revealed. The tag might as well read: "Beauty in Imperfection {the softy, not your baby}."

Pearls for Pearl
Abby (my sister) + Jamie blessed their little girl, Pearl, in church yesterday. I am sad we couldn't be there. But today these two items should arrive at their doorstep and maybe make up for our absence.
The first is Heather Bailey's Freshcut fabric line. Love her. Backed with softy-soft square minkee.
The second is an experimental 30x30" "softie" using Amy Butler fabric with crazy furry backing. Each of my older children begged me to make them one - it's sooo soft. But I haven't mastered the process yet. Does anyone have any cutting/sewing tips for such non-quilted items? Nancy?
I hope you enjoy your soft life Pearl!
